By becoming a sustainable salon, we can help protect our planet and give back to the community. Djurra became a sustainable salon in July 2018 and has been collecting, recycling and repurposing waste ever since. We’re making salon waste history!

 

THE SUSTAINABLE SALON IMPACT

Then donated to charitable organisations and wig makers for those who suffer from medically induced hair loss. If you want to make the chop book an appointment at Djurra, not only will you look good you will feel good knowing your hair is being donated to someone in need. 

 

What are the qualifications for a donated ponytail

 

  • Any age, gender, hair type and hair colour (chemically processed, coloured or virgin hair)
  • Minimum of 20cm long
  • Straight or Curly hair (must meet the minimum 20cm length without straightened)
  • 100% Human hair extensions

Every piece of foil, can of hairspray and colour tube is made into new aluminium packaging.

 

38,440L OF CHEMICALS RECYCLED

Is sent to chemical recycling plants, where it is neutralised and turned into recycled water! This water can be used in construction and roadworks.

Straight from the salon floor to be made into hair booms. These hair booms are then used to clean up 124,766L of oil in spills along our coastline or land.

All plastic including bottles, wrapping, packaging and bags are collected and sent to plastic recycling plants. Where it’s cleaned and made into outdoor furniture, new packaging and heavy-duty plastic walls that go underground to protect our NBN.

For those in need. Including haircuts, massages, facials, manicures, beard trims and more!

All proceeds generated from recycling salon materials go to Ozharvest and Kiwiharvest to help feed the hungry ($1 = 2 meals)
